I see fairies intertwined, lightning bugs, and fish gods. This is really lovely, Sue, among the favorites I've seen you post. So soft and soothing, but also vibrant.

It's hard to say where I feel most connected to nature. At different times, it has been in state parks, walking dirt roads, driving through farmland on little-used highways. Right now, it is probably the city park and zoo across the street. Just because I don't get to see countryside very often where we live.

@distractedbyzombies - i enjoy going to zoos if they are humane. it's hard seeing animals caged up too much. they sure can be fun to watch though. does your zoo have bears? zombies?

@DancingSun - Half the animals at the Houston zoo are rescues, or so it seems. They have bears, a couple of grizzlies that were taken from an extremely neglectful private owner. I haven't seem them aggressively pursue replacements for rhinos, gorillas, lions, etc, after they pass.

It's sad to see animals in captivity, but it is at least a good way to put ecological issues in the face of the average Joe and Jane. The staff there are definitely animal lovers, and the zoo does conservation work around the globe.
